4ème Festival des peuples des déserts du monde à Timimoune
*Des Indiens américains à Timimoun
Dans le cadre de la coopération bilatérale entre l’ambassade des Etats-Unis d’Amérique à Alger et le ministère de l’Aména-gement du territoire, de l’Environnement et du Tourisme, la troupe de danseurs américains First Nations Dance Company (Fndc) a été conviée à participer à la quatrième édition du Festival des peuples des déserts du monde de Timimoune les 17 et 18 décembre.
Basée à Fort Defiance, en Arizona, sur la réserve des Indiens Navajo, la Fndc fut créée en 1991. Elle présente principalement de la danse et de la musique traditionnelles amérindiennes pow-wow. Ses spectacles comprennent aussi des oeuvres de musiciens autochtones de la flûte.
Les danseurs de la troupe sont tous issus de différentes tribus autochtones: Kiowa, Comanche, Apache, Maricopa, Zuni, Caddo, Delaware, Navajo, Sho-shone-Bannock, Lakota, Dakota, Blood, Blackfoot, les Cree, les Choctaws et Cherokee.
C’est pourquoi les mem-bres de Fndc sont fiers de dire qu’ils ne viennent pas de Los Angeles, de Chicago ou de New York, mais que leur troupe est géographiquement située sur une réserve indienne en Arizona, et c’est l’une des rares troupes de danse des Etats-Unis et du Canada qui peuvent prétendre à cela.
La Fndc est sans aucun doute l’une des principales troupes professionnelles de danses autochtones américaines les plus connues dans le monde. (L’Expression-19.12.09.)
